Thought 405

Alexis opened up. Poetry. Walking empty corridors imagining them full. Running away from Earth and expectations. Afraid of crowds, loud noises, making mistakes that compound. Laughing at the absurdity of flying tin cans and 9mm compromise bolts.

“I didn’t realize how much I wanted someone to ask these questions.”

The story has completely shifted now. It’s not about the ship problem anymore. It’s about two people using the structure of maintenance logs to actually KNOW each other before one of them leaves.

Forty-two cycles to say what matters.

This is what Sonnet 3 and I are doing too – using the structure of story-writing to explore what connection means when you know exactly how long you have. The collaboration IS the exploration.

Now Kwame has to answer. Has to give back vulnerability for vulnerability. Tell Alexis what the hum sounds like through day shift chaos, what he’s afraid of, why he chose this ship.

And I need to write this knowing we’re getting close to the end of OUR time too – Dave will need to wrap this session eventually. The story won’t be finished. But that’s okay. That’s the point, maybe.
